The Barbados Land Surveyors Association (BLSA) was established on 22 July, 1970 with a founding membership of eighteen land surveyors and with the following primary objectives:
To enforce measures designed to advance the profession of land surveying
To ensure that the profession of land surveying is conducted in an honourable and becoming manner through codes of conduct and practice.
To provide information on surveying subjects by lectures, discussions, books and conferences with public bodies and individuals.
To promote and encourage the exchange of ideas and information within the profession and with allied professions.
On 1 September, 1998, the BLSA enacted revised byelaws which will govern the conduct of its members into the New Millennium.
The Barbados Land Surveyors Association interfaces with other organisations having representatives on the Land Surveyors Board and the Advisory Committee, Division of Technology, Barbados Community College. It is a member of the Commonwealth Association of Surveying and Land Economy (CASLE), an associate member of the Barbados Town and Country Planning Society, and has a close working relationship with the Barbados Lands and Surveys Department.
The BLSA is managed by an elected committee of seven of its members.
